Other Recruitment Strategies

  • Classified Newspaper Ads are probably the most widely used form of employee recruitment. Several local newspapers in Sarasota County publish ads for open positions.
  • Trade Journal Ads are an effective way to recruit in a specific trade or industry.
  • Job Fairs can be a great way to meet a lot of applicants at one time. The Herald-Tribune presents two major job fairs per year (April & October), and Jobs, ETC routinely hosts job fairs throughout the year and will work with employers to host onsite job fairs.
  • Internship Opportunities are a great way to attract and retain a talented workforce.
  • Staffing Agencies and Recruiters are another traditional means of recruiting talent.
  • Layoff Notices are sometimes printed in the paper. Employers interested in recruiting from these affected workers should contact Jobs, ETC since they usually assist the company in hosting onsite job fairs for their affected workers.
  • Employee Referrals (with a bonus) are a great way to recruit talent.
  • College & University Career Centers are a valuable resource in recruiting future talent. It is important to establish a relationship with their office.  Click here for a list of Florida College & University Career Centers.
